Apple has a weird relationship with gaming. Bar occasional, short-lived flurries of gaming advocacy, the company has been cool on the subject, mostly using games to showcase the power of shiny new hardware it wants to sell.
Like the Mac App Store, Steam offers free and paid-for games. For free games, click the Play Game button. This opens a window with options for creating a desktop shortcut, and enabling you to adjust the install location. Add the former if you like; avoid changing the latter.

Overall, the above mentioned games make it clear that the Mac can be a formidable player in the gaming console wars. We can only look forward to what games will be released in the platform in the next few years.
Now you need to create a folder to MOUNT as your C: drive and hold your games. The most convenient location for this folder would be your home folder (which can be referenced as ~). In This example we will call our folder DOSGAMES. Inside this folder we can place all of the programs that we want to be available in our emulated DOS environment. Remember that while these files are buried deep in the file system with paths like ~/DOSGAMES/TESTDRV, inside DOSBox they appear as though they reside in the root of their mounted drive letter, so the above example in DOSBox would be located at C:\TESTDRV (assuming that ~/DOSGAMES was mounted as C:).
You can create configuration file for individual games. It can hold specific configuration options and even commands for invoking game in the AUTOEXEC section. Then you can run DOSBox with your config by calling following command from terminal:

It depends. Macs aren't specifically designed for professional gaming, but you can still play basic games on them. Macs are designed with functionality and software optimization in mind. Hardcore gaming takes a back seat in Mac designs.

No,there really is not an easy way to run PPC apps on Mac anymore. Your OS X Rosetta disk will definitely fail to install on Mavericks. Apple stripped support for Rosetta following the release of OS X Lion (10.7) and have never put it back.
When Apple first published Rosetta, they said it was best for low computational apps like Word. In addition, Apple stated that games and high computational apps like CAD software or video editors/compositors would have issues running through Rosetta. COD will probably not run well through Rosetta.
As Mac OS X 10.7 and later no longer support legacy PPC applications like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, an easy solution for playing PPC games on modern Macs is a Wineskin wrapper to install and run the Windows PC version.
Yes, they already semi-canceled Rosetta in Snow Leopard (it was an optional install only) to entice developers to update their apps. Rosetta's PPC translation layer was the last remnant of 32-bit technology in OS X, so it got the axe for 10.7, making it the first 100% 64-bit OS. I kinda understand their reasoning though, as endlessly carrying legacy compatibility around weighs down the whole OS (see Windows).
NOTE: It looks like Mac OS X 10.7.5 & 10.8.2 Update breaks Wine completely. Even Codeweaver's Crossover is completely broken after the update and they are working with Apple on a fix. I'll have a look at what can be done to resolve this, but it may take some time. Sorry about the inconvenience.
Hi. I'm hoping to get GR installed on both my Macbook Air (running 10.8.4) and my wife's Macbook Air (10.7.5), so that we can be on the same team on missions. I used to love this game, and my wife, being a Marine Corp a number of years back, would love it - I know. I just purchased a used version of GR through Amazon, and it came into the mail today. So, I followed the instructions, downloading the wrapper, placing it in my Applications folder. I loaded in the GR cd, and began the install process.
Hello jtibbittGR Mac does not run under system 10.7 and 10.8 with intel processors. Since the game is 2001 for processors PowerPC. If you have Mac the only way is to run it through Bootcamp and have GR on PC. There is another way to make it run with a program called Wineskin Winery inside the Mac but that's already something more complicated to explain, but if you search on YouTube you will find it.I remember when I did a SkypeGhost mods for the Chilean community, contact the Ubisoft and told me that the GR was already released to be downloaded free and without restrictions for use.Best regardsSorry for my English. 2b1af7f3a8
