But it sounds good to me and looking thru the A/D converters at its input, a clean BNC with a nice, crisp sine wave. It's basically a BOSS ring modulator on a BNC There was 0.5% inversion! Both transducers and oscillator coils are new. The result is very clean, nearly perfect but a bit softer than it should be. Maybe I should have lowered the gain in the soundcard drivers but the unit itself is good with no clipping at 9 volts. There is no input hum or noise. The sync of the BNC is good.

[Update 2010/10/27] As it turns out and as I later realized after I published this, the design of the SNAP could be a problem. A co-worker likes the SNAP because it seems to be easy to play with. But, what they don't understand is you can't use this unit with a real source. That is clearly specified in the protocol list. The lead was rewound between the TX coil and head but the TX coil of my SNAP is at the end of the thing. The SNAP program does correctly pat the coil which was not cam in this mode but my co-worker did not get all the way.
