Parents need to know that sex, drinking, and drugs dominate the content of this movie, implying that they're an integral part of prom night and making them seem like an everyday presence in teens' lives. Teens talk about having sex, oral sex is implied in one case, there's a lot of making out (including guy-on-guy and girl-on-girl kissing), and one girl succumbs to pressure put on her by a friend, who insists that not sleeping with her boyfriend will chase him away (but they don't complete the act). Alcohol is present most of the time with little consequence for teens, although an adult wrecks a car while under the influence. Expect lots of language ("bitch," "damn," and "ass") and some implications of drug use. That said, the main characters find strength in their bonds of friendship and turn their misfortune around in the end, learning some important things about themselves in the process.
Senior prom comes but once in a lifetime, and hopeless romantic Clark (Daryl Sabara) has been planning for months to ensure it's a memorable night for his longtime girlfriend, Sharon (Angela Timbur). What he doesn't expect is that she'll dump him moments before the big event, or that instead of dancing the night away with her, he'll spend the evening with her two best friends, Heather (Haley Ramm) and Neve (Chloe Bridges), who have also had their nights ruined by their dates. When their intoxicated limo driver nearly kills them in a car crash and they wind up rubbing elbows with a gang of hoodlums, it sets off a series of unfortunate events that eventually lands them in jail and tests their bonds of friendship.
The movie takes a similar stance on teen drinking and, to a lesser degree, drug use. Alcohol plays a big role in the characters' prom night, and with the exception of some destructive behavior at a teen's house, there's no consequence for their actions. The bottom line? The main characters emerge from their tribulations stronger and more self-confident, having met their fears head-on and resolved festering issues, but teens are bound to see all of the movie's marginal behavior as an enticing glimpse of what could be for them. If you do give your teens the go-ahead, be sure to take the opportunity to talk to them about the important issues the story raises.
Teens: What are some of the pressures you feel on a regular basis? What do you expect of yourself in school and extracurricular activities? How do your relationships with friends and family help you manage these stresses? Do they ever add to your stress? If so, how?
While the foursome enjoys prom, Naomi hears a low hum and has flashes of memories from her time at S.T.A.R Labs and her encounter with Mac (Briana Venskus). After hearing the hum, the lights go out in the gym. Luckily, the DJ has power so the night can continue, but Naomi and Annabelle take their leave to the bathroom instead.
Back at the high school, they plan to create a make-shift panic room for the prom-goers. Naomi meets Julian in the east wing without alerting her friends. Julian gives her a choice to either save her friends or her classmates.
Prom at ADM HS was scheduled for May 1st. Sadly, with prom having been canceled, that date has come and gone without a grand march, dance, or after prom. Without a night to remember, what did students do?
Clark has planned the perfect prom for his girlfriend Sharon. His plans are hijacked when Sharon invites her two best girlfriends, Neve and Heather, and their dates along on the perfect evening, but things only get worse. When all three are deserted by their dates at the beginning of prom, the trio go back out to their limo, where the driver has cleaned out the mini bar and takes them on a wild ride that lands them in a holding cell and ends with them crashing another school's prom.
Some of the guys do promposals. In case you were wondering how BIP would actually pull of an 80s theme, they get clothes and accessories to choose from. Abigail wears a pouffy, ruffly purple dress with a scrunchy or ribbon in her hair.
'The Loved Ones' is finally hitting theaters this summer courtesy of Paramount. The wicked little horror film - described as a cross between 'Sixteen Candles' and 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' - that blew up SXSW in 2010 has a brand new trailer to get you excited about this bloody prom flick.

I'm posting this photo of me in my prom dress from prom in spring 1990, to warn all the young women about to attend Eden Prairie's prom tomorrow. Think classic, not trendy (although this probably wasn't even trendy then, maybe in 1986).
Unfortunately, when I walked into Dayton's in Fargo in 1990, I was tragically beguiled by the royal blue dress with quite possibly the largest sleeves ever. That might have been a good thing, however, as the sleeves may have balanced out the weight of my huge waterfall bangs.
I should also add that we hired a limo for the evening, which in Hope meant that we had to pay the person to drive from Fargo, about 60 miles, then drive us around town for an hour (probably making 20 circuits of every street in town in that time, and driving past our parents' homes at least 5 times each), leave us at prom and drive back to Fargo.

Haaaaaa! I forgot all about those! My nails are usually like, Frodo Baggins status but I got acrylics (!) for prom and it was the WORST. I almost took my eye out trying to get my contacts out and if I remember correctly I picked half of them off before the prom was over. NEVER AGAIN!
Background: Arthrofibrosis (knee stiffness due to scar tissue) after total knee replacement (TKR) is the 2nd most common reason for hospital re-admission following TKR. It severely restricts knee movement, causes pain and interferes with everyday activities. There are no guidelines as to how best to treat this complication. Most people will have additional physiotherapy but it is not clear exactly what this should involve.
Background: Osteoarthritis and knee pain following knee trauma are highly prevalent. Several patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) address knee pain severity. Their harmonisation would facilitate data pooling between studies.
Methods: We undertook a systematic literature review (SLR) of Patient Acceptable Symptom State scores (PASS) and performed individual patient data (IPD) analysis of score distributions from concurrently completed PROM pairs. Questionnaires were standardised to 0 to 100 (worst) scales. PROM scores of individuals were compared using data from four distinct studies.
Conclusion: Different standardised PROMs give similar PASS thresholds in group data. PASS thresholds may be affected more by patient and treatment characteristics than between PROMs. However, different PROMs give divergent scores within individuals, reflecting different experiences of pain.
OA is more prevalent and severe in women, and opioid prescription rates are also higher than for men. However, most animal studies of OA use male rats only. To address this, we used female rats in our studies. We show that repeated morphine treatment loses the ability to block pain in female rats, and also leads to worse pain when the knee joint is later injured, mimicking what is seen in people with OA. In our future work, we will find out why this happens, using microscopes and recording techniques to pinpoint underlying changes in key pain signalling regions, identifying which signals cause these changes, and whether blocking these signals can prevent or reduce OA pain. 2b1af7f3a8
